Updates? YES!

Hello!

I have been loading all of my stuff into a new space, so sorry I haven't been on for a while. I am moving from my bedroom to the garage. It is a mess right now but it is all coming together nicely.

Here are a few of my drawers that I had to buy PLENTY of from a container store. I have so much thread it needed its own drawer!!

Yes, I have so much fabric it completely filled out 7+ drawers! It will all help for college though!

Ok well, I had a project or two that I recently finished

One is a corset made with a light, thin velved with a gold busk and golded rivets and D-Rings. Photos coming some time :p But here is a drawing of what it is.

 I recently learned how to use rivets with a corset and I am looking forward to continue my practice with them. But for my first time using them, I think I did a decent job. I mean, some are really crappy looking, but still a good first attempt. Again, I will post some photos. . . sometime.

Here is a project I recently started:

It is a cosplay of the My Little Pony character "Queen of the Changelings"

or also known as "Chrysalis"

I have already bought, maybe, 80% of the materials

-Skirt 5 yards of cotton from Joann's

- Fishnet shirts 5 yards black fishnet from Etsy and 4 yards green fishnet from Fabrics World, and damn it was hard to find!

- PVC bright green 1 1/2 yards for the corset and neck corset from Joann's

- Model Magic for the horn

I don't know how to do the wings quite yet. That will be the very last thing to do.

I have started the skirt already, but I am waiting for the fishnet to come in so I can layer the whole thing together. What I can do at the moment is burn the edges >:3

In other news!

I was invited by a group called RAW: Natural Born Artists to do a fashion show to showcase my talents!

They are a group that recognizes young, local artists (based on where you live, at least) and give them the chance to show off. This way, you can become recognized by whoever is coming to the show. I was told that a woman who works for a fashion magazine always shows up to the art show I would be presenting in. I wish I could remember which one :l

I am very HAPPY that I was invited to this! I am very skeptical as to how I'm going to go about it, but I would really like to be apart of their program. I can be featured on their page and everything!

I have plans on what I can make them too, but I won't tell about it quite yet

WOW ITS BEEN A WHILE!

Well. . . hello there. . . how ya been?

Ok . . . FFFFF

I am so sorry that I have not been able to post here in the past

. . . .

four months?

I had to finish high school, and, I AM NOW DONE!!!

:DDDD

I am now a high school grad!

HURRRRRAH!

But yes, now that I am done with this silly high school mess, I can get back into the swing of things and finally sew 24/7! Like I used to. . .

But lets recap on what the hell happened in the past few months:

- Lots of f'en homework
- My love with My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic

- MTAC! HURRAH! ANIME CON! That includes raves, Japanese foods, making new friends, and wishing I had a booth to sell my stuff at. . . (sniff). But there's always next year.
Here's my Steampunk outfit (that I had to improvise on) from the first day of the con)

-Hanging with friends

-Other raves

-Prom (and indeed I made my prom dress)

It took almost two months to make. It would have been sooner if I didnt have school in the way.  BLEHH

 - My birthday party!

- A new and very loving partner (thats whos in the prom photo with me :3)

- Seinor stuff and privilages that were wonderful and rememberable!

- And of course graduation!

There was so much that went on I can't even recall absolutely everything.

And I do have some news to share.

Ok, so I have chosen my college to attend to, finally. It was a very hard choice (out of all 2 options.)
Now for the next topic of interest: to earn an artistic scholarship from this college, I have to design a fashion line. This line will depend how much scholarship I will earn for the next four years of attending this school
*gulp*

I have completed my designs, made my patterns, and sewed everything up! They are all ready for my appointment on Monday.
But I really don't have much confidence in it, at all. Cause I feel that my work was very sloppy, but maybe the head of the fashion department wont care cause I never took any proper sewing classes. . .

Gah I don't know!!!!

Anyways, I will post those photos as soon as I can. 

Again I am sorry for this masive delay on information. I am ready and able to blog again though!

And I will be very vigalent in my work and updates!

Updates and Delays

Oh time, 

I don't have enough of you. . .

Wow . . . It has been more than a month since I have made a blog entry 

T^T

I'm pretty sad about it . . .

But here's what's up

Life seems to bring me many opportunities and many disappointments, especially now that I'm a senior in high school and also dealing with normal teen issues

Bleck!

What are the disappointments?

Well I haven't sewn anything amazing (or much of anything) in a month or so because of all the work loads I am trying to keep up with, and YES I'm talking about the evils of homework

I mean, I had a custom order come in. . . but it was only a wrist band order

And I made another Fluttershy hat that it had her cutie mark

. . . 

Maybe I should have posted that

Anyways, it was for a hat exchange with a friend

Other than that, nothing really significant has come off of my sewing machine

Once again, I cry in the corner

Another thing, I'm not sure if anyone reading this has read my post about a custom cosplay for a friend. 

Yeah. . . not ganna happen

I had to cancel due to all the work I have to do

It is a sad day because that could have gotten me $100 in my pocket

But I guess it is my fault for sort of procrastinating and delaying my schedule, just a tiny bit

Hell. . . idk

Opportunities?

Um . . . 

Well for one thing, I am now responsible of making costumes for my school theater play/movie that we are doing for the semester

(and it will be my last performance from 7th grade to now)

The shows are "Waiting for Godot" and "The Importance of Being Earnest"

Pictures of such will be posted, of course, but that will be in around March

But I'm SO GLAD that I get to sew soon! 

Because I haven't sewn in so long, I have had this DYING feeling that I will loose my motivation and creativity cause of all this GODDAMN WORK ahead of me. . .

I'm afraid that I will loose myself in just the guilt of WORK WORK WOOORK

I'm not sure how to explain it. . .

Just. . . fuck it

Also, a little news on the shop,

I recently went to a convention (SAM Con) at the local alternative cafe

named Cafe Coco

I was selling my hats, wrist bands, skirts, and whatever was waiting to be taken home

I only sold 2 lolita hats. . . 

It was a relatively small con anyways

. . .

Anyways, that's what life has been like for the past month

. . .

Cosplay Time!

One of the many future projects added to my list

This is for a friend I met a few years ago at MTAC

I believe it was 2009

She found me on youtube and our friendship started from there

I'm really excited to be making this for her

I don't make a whole lot of cosplay

Just cause I only go to one con every year (thats all I really have time for)

But this is even better cause I'm getting paid

$.$

But that's not the soul reason to be doing this

This is like my own personal challenge

To make a custom costume for a person that is not myself

What I plan to do is 

-Make or alter patterns

-Produce mock ups

-Set up arrangements/meetings

-Alter again, if needed

-Make again in the real materials needed

-Do anther meeting

-Alter garments if needed

-FINISH IT BEFORE . . . the 20th?

OH GOD I HOPE I CAN FINISH BEFORE THE REALLY BIG PROJECTS GET STARTED!

But thank the LORD that this is a really simple project for me

Just look at it!

It's just a button up shirt, a black vest, and a pair of dark blue knickers!

I have patterns for all of that!! (well I'm custom making the vest)

I think I can do it! 

THIS IS A CHALLENGE AFTER ALL!

Steampunk Plans for MTAC 2012: Dress Done

I am happy to announce that the Victorian dress has been completed!

In only 1 1/2 days!

This turned out great!

Pictures can only describe the greatness of this result

This picture features two bustles in the front

One way to wear this dress

A few other options I could do is

- One bustle on the side (left or right)

- Four bustles in the front and sides

- Or all bustles combined

There is a nice little train in the back as well

It is more defiant if there are bustles in the front

Lace trim

Lace is over 100 years old

Very antique

Scalloped trim on lace

Has a green zipper

about 6 or 8 inches

Two silver clips hand sewn on to waist band

This has no lining

Wish I could have put some in but I wasn't sure how to deal with that due to the bustles 

So I just didn't add any

:(

Perfect addition to a Steampunk atire

Corset will be done later in the next year

Cause theres only 5 minuets till that year

My mision is to find a big brown soft leather jacket from Goodwill and use that for my corset

I have yet to find the perfect jacket

It will take some time

Meow

Next Project: Steampunk

Really exciting news

The next sewing project will be to completed a heavily planned Steampunk outfit for 2012's MTAC (local anime con)

The theme for this years con is "Omega" or the end of the world

And for one of the days, I will be a Murderess Steampunk

:D 

Happy thoughts!

So heres a sketch of what I have in mind

It's looking kinda plain right now with just a corset and a skirt,

but once I can achieve the major elements, the little details will soon make this whole ensemble completely awesome!

So the bustle is a single layer with no ruffles, but antique 100+ year old lace along the hem

Don't ask me how I ended up with lace like that

It is at least 3 or 4 inches wide

The dress itself will be a forest green

Something to really compliment the color of the lace

The corset I am hoping will be brown and made of leather

My concern with this is that will my sewing machine work with real leather?

I mean I will use fax leather if I have too

I once used pleather (I think thats what it was): or something similar to leather

and that worked

I just had to place paper on its right to get the dog foot moving

But otherwise that worked

I'm kinda hoping for a miracle.

There will be a belt along with this as well! I'm really excited to make this!

There will be a compartment for the following

-Phone

-Money/Important Cards

-Pocket Watch (with a little window to show off the gears)

-Belt loops to clips things onto

- More loops for fake or real weapons

And I can save a place for my broken and pathetic fox tail

My pets tore it up so it looks more like a deformed bunny tail

But overall I'm really glad that I'm going to do this project!

My only worry about after the project is that how in the hell will I wash this skirt with such delicate lace?!

The thought scares me to be honest

I'm sure that this will all be worth it when I wear this to MTAC or the annual Renaissance Fairs or just any other occasion appropriate for steampunkness!
